Main Purpose of Appointment.
NURSING CARE
- You are to provide strong direction for clinical leadership and take responsibility for ensuring that patients receive top-quality, comprehensive treatment.
- You are also responsible for tracking patient outcomes and quality measurements to drive ongoing improvements in healthcare delivery.
- Furthermore, you oversee the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care, guided by evidence-based clinical and managerial practices.
- In addition, you manage the assessment, scheduling, and delivery of pediatric healthcare, which includes administering medications and other therapies.
- You will ensure continuity of care for patients during their hospital stays by coordinating their treatment plans and keeping them informed about pediatric health conditions, available treatments, and prevention methods.
- Moreover, you will ensure that nursing staff comply with all essential nursing standards and procedures, and you lead, coordinate, and supervise the clinical practice of nursing.
- Additionally, you ensure that each patient's needs are assessed, care plans are developed to address those needs, and treatment is carried out by established policies and procedures.
- Furthermore, you lead innovation, demonstrate clinical expertise, and serve as a resource and advisor to colleagues in various hospital departments and units.
- You also provide exemplary leadership within clinical settings, setting the standard for the highest level of professional nursing practice.
- You oversee and guide a team of pediatric nurses, nurse practitioners, and assistants, ensuring that pediatric nursing care is provided in a family-centered, safe, and efficient manner.
- Lastly, you ensure that the health status of each patient and their family is evaluated by the standards of nursing practices set forth by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
WARD ROUNDS
- Collaborate with the pediatric team, which includes pediatricians, surgeons, nurses, and other relevant medical specialists, to plan and coordinate regular ward rounds.
- Ensure that the rounds are carried out systematically and at consistent intervals.
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
- The role entails managing the recruitment, orientation, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining of staff to meet the human resource objectives of the unit. This includes communicating job expectations, monitoring and evaluating staff contributions, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- It also involves ensuring that a professional image is maintained through adherence to uniform code, name badges, grooming standards, and overseeing trainee education and staff continuing nursing education under the direction of the nursing director.
- Additionally, the role involves evaluating employees' attitudes, knowledge, and abilities to identify areas for in-service training and maintaining documentation of staff development workshops, seminars, and meetings.
- It also requires monitoring the outcomes of nursing and quality audits carried out in the unit or department.
- Furthermore, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of professional practice by valuing diversity, encouraging creativity and teamwork, promoting a commitment to quality, demonstrating empathy and care, and exploring trends in nursing care practice.
FINANCIAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
- Achieving unit goals through meticulous planning of expenses, detecting any discrepancies, forecasting future needs, and taking proactive measures to address any issues.
- Developing and adhering to departmental budgets for staffing, revenue, and expenses.
- Evaluating, selecting, and implementing methods to enhance the efficiency of work unit operations.
- Reacting to any changes within the company that might affect its ability to achieve financial objectives.
- Monitoring and examining the stock of surgical and medical supplies in the units.
- Utilizing Medinous to place supply orders from medical and surgical stores.
- Maintenance of Medinous records: Coordinating with the Billing and Procurement Units to ensure that physical inventory matches the records in Medinous every week.
- Ensuring that transfers between locations are promptly recorded in Medinous.
- Promptly updating Medinous with any returns to medical or surgical stores.
- Setting minimum and maximum inventory levels to prevent overstocking or understocking.
- Actively participating in monthly stock takes and ensuring timely completion of variance reports.
- Providing stock management training to nursing staff in collaboration with the Procurement Unit.
- Ensuring timely and accurate billing and review of all stock by nursing staff.
- Communicating with the billing team before the discharge of patients from the units
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT – CLINICAL AND QUALITY
- You will accomplish operational goals.
- Put together and finish action plans.
- Put customer service, quality, and productivity objectives into practice.
- Recognize issues and find solutions.
- Assist team leaders and members.
- Work on completing audits, finding ways to enhance the system, and implementing changes for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensuring the provision of top-notch service to patients or clients by utilizing resources wisely.
- Serving as a clinical guide and resource for the nursing staff to carry out their tasks proficiently and consistently.
- Keep the Nursing Director informed about any outstanding patient issues, grievances, potential legal disputes, or incidents of nursing malpractice.
- Responsible for maintaining the availability and maintenance of pediatric care supplies and equipment.
- Overseeing inventory organization and supervising the acquisition of prescription drugs and essential medical supplies.
- Improving quality outcomes through the implementation and evaluation of new initiatives and technological advancements.
- Additionally, creating the best possible learning environment for nursing students.
- Achieving nursing service and hospital objectives by fulfilling diverse requests and seeking ways to improve job performance.
- Responsible with the Nursing Director's approval, for creating, evaluating, and updating nursing standards, protocols, procedures, in-service teaching, and patient care initiatives.
- Keeping up to date with medical, surgical, supply, and equipment practices to ensure the highest standards of care.
EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS/ EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
Please remember the following criteria for the nursing position:
- You should have completed a bachelor's or master's degree in nursing.
- Possession of a postgraduate diploma in nursing education or management will be an advantage.
- You need to be a current member of Ghana's Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- It is necessary to have at least five years of proven leadership and management experience in a relevant setting, ideally in private healthcare.
- Proficiency with computers is necessary.
- You should have comprehensive knowledge of the laws and regulations about nursing and the healthcare industry.
- Understanding the regulations governing private hospitals and nursing is essential.
- An understanding of the broader healthcare industry's resource models is required.
- You must have the ability to inspire, motivate, build, and lead a team to ensure high-quality and effective clinical and professional nursing care.
